Liver & Gallbladder Cleanse

July 10, 2018

I had told a friend of mine that I wanted to detox and she suggested that I try her cleanse. This 7-day cleanse is designed to flush out toxins from the liver and gallstones from the gallbladder. She had sent me the recipe in French but I have it here for you in English!

What I like about this cleanse is that it's super easy and inexpensive. Believe it or not, this was my first cleanse ever and also the first time I've used Epsom salts as a laxative. So don't be scared, if I can do it, you can do it! I also got my husband to do it. He didn't take it as seriously and did not pass any stones. Please note also that cleanses are not for everyone. Make sure you check with your doctor before you do this!! Safety first😎

To Prepare For The Cleanse:

Eat light vegetarian meals the week before and during the 7 days. Homemade is always best!

6 liters of apple juice (I used the Flash Pasteurized 100% Freshly Pressed Apple Juice from Trader Joe’s)

200 mL fresh grapefruit juice (about 2 grapefruits)

120 mL organic cold pressed olive oil

60 g magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts)

750 mL water

The Cleanse:

Day 1-5:

Drink 1 liter of apple juice per day. Make sure to spread out this amount throughout the day. You can dilute it with water if it's too sweet. Eat light vegetarian meals.

Day 6:

Finish the liter by noon. Make sure you have lunch because no more food after noon. In her original recipe she said to eat a lunch that does NOT have any fat. I forgot but I still passed two stones. I will pay more attention next time.

Mix the magnesium sulfate with the water. I just reused one of the apple juice jugs. Juice the grapefruits and mix with the olive oil. I had an empty kombucha bottle so I just put it in there. Shake well so the juice and oil are mixed and there is no separation between the liquids. And here is where it gets interesting…

In place of dinner, we are going to be drinking some liquids:

6 pm: Drink 200 mL of the magnesium sulfate water mixture. I should warn you that it does not taste good so just do it quickly.

8 pm: Drink 200 mL of the magnesium sulfate water mixture.

10 pm: Drink the grapefruit olive oil mixture. This was my favorite part, very tasty! After this part you need to brush your teeth and go to bed. Try not to move very much...

Day 7:

7 am: Drink 200 mL of the magnesium sulfate water mixture.

9 am: Drink the rest of the magnesium sulfate water mixture.

Other Suggestions:

1. Plan to be home and somewhat available for the 6th night and 7th morning for the toilet runs.

2. I was fine at about 1 pm on the 7th day but I still had vegetarian meals for the next few days. If you are feeling bad, I would ease into food with soups and fresh juices.

3. The recipe also says that you might need to do the cleanse several times BUT you must wait at least 3 weeks after the last one.

On that note, I plan on doing this cleanse again in August, who wants in?

Did you try the cleanse? Let me know how it goes!!

xoxo

Laurie
